PodWheels got an opportunity to go behind the scenes with several members of Team USA prior to their departure for Germany to represent America in the 33rd edition of the Professional Driver World Championships (PDWCs). In our collaboration with The Trucker Media Group, PodWheels Executive Producer Greg Thompson wrote an expansive feature on Team USA. The story was posted on the front page of TheTrucker.com on September 9, which was the opening day for the PDWCs.
The feature story traces the roots of the first-ever Team USA to enter the PDWCs field and it chronicles how the 15-member squad that will be competing in Germany came together with the spirit of true pioneers embracing a new adventure.
One the highlights of the story is the focus that is placed on Ramon Guzman, a two-time State Champion from California who has become a fixture at NTDC as the man behind his cameras. As you can read in the feature, it was Ramon who made the initial international outreach and became a leader in the effort to build a strong Team USA. Due in part to Ramon’s drive and determination over the past 12 months or so, Team USA is in Germany this week competing alongside more than 20 other countries at the Professional Driver World Championships.
PodWheels invites you to spend a few minutes reading how Ramon’s once distant dream became what he now sees as a Dream Team representing the United States at trucking’s World Championships. You’ll also read the insights offered by several members of Team USA, including Team Captain Deithild (DeeDee) Holbein, Phillip Glover, Jim Kohr, Ron Round, Robert Fernald and Roland Bolduc.
